Ruby finished grade school and graduated high school. She became the first African American to work it the American Express in New Orleans. She married a man named Malcolm Hall and had four sons. She wrote a book, "Through My Eyes" to tell her story about integration. She also started the Ruby Bridges Foundation to talk about "the values of tolerance, respect, and appreciation of all differences".
Later in her life, Ruby traveled the world as a speaker against racism. On January 8, 2001, she was awarded the Presidents Citizens Medal by President Bill Clinton. On July 15, 2011 Ruby met with President Barack Obama and he thanked her for all she has done.
